Game Nights Are Never Just About the Game

Some of my favorite childhood memories don't begin with vacations or birthdays.

They begin with someone opening a game box.

As my own children were growing up, game nights became one of the traditions I looked forward to most. They weren't carefully planned or perfectly styled. They simply happened because everyone gathered around the table.

We played Uno more times than I can count. Dominoes somehow turned into family tournaments. Playing cards appeared after dinner. My son loved chess, and one of his favorite memories is sitting across from his grandfather, quietly thinking through every move. Grandma had her own tradition. Whenever the grandkids came over, she would pull out Uno, and within minutes everyone around the table was laughing, arguing about the rules, celebrating lucky cards, and asking for "just one more game."

Looking back now, I realize something important, the games themselves weren't the point. They simply gave us a reason to spend uninterrupted time together.

In a world where phones constantly compete for our attention and schedules seem fuller every year, games do something wonderful. They slow us down. They create eye contact. They create laughter. They create little moments of friendly competition that somehow become family stories years later.

I honestly believe game nights are one of the healthiest traditions a family can build.

Children learn patience, strategy, teamwork, sportsmanship, and communication without even realizing it. Adults get something just as valuable. We put work aside, forget about our to-do lists for a little while, and simply enjoy each other's company.

Some of the biggest laughs in our family happened because someone played the wrong card, knocked over a domino chain, made an unexpected chess move, or completely misunderstood the rules.

Years later, we don't remember who won, we remember the laughter. Those ordinary evenings quietly became part of our family's story.

As I started building Global Artisan Co., I found myself coming back to those memories again and again.

That's why you'll notice game night becoming a bigger part of our collections.

Whether it's Mahjong, cards, dominoes, holiday gatherings, or other games that bring people together, I want to create products that become part of those evenings. I want someone to place a beautiful board in the center of the table, arrange cheeses, fruit, vegetables, crackers, or desserts, and create a table that naturally invites people to stay a little longer.

Because every great game night eventually pauses for snacks.

Someone reaches for another cracker, someone refills a glass of wine, someone tells another story.

The board in the middle of the table quietly becomes part of the experience.

That's exactly what I hope our glass kitchen cutting boards become.

Not simply something you prepare food on.

Something that belongs in the middle of conversations.

Something that becomes part of birthdays, holidays, girls' nights, family reunions, Mahjong tournaments, card nights, and every gathering where memories are being made.

As our Game Night Collection continues to grow, I'll be adding new designs inspired by the games people love most. If your family has a favorite game you'd love to see featured on one of our boards, I'd genuinely love to hear about it.

Whether it's bridge, Bunco, Canasta, Mahjong, dominoes, poker, chess, cribbage, or another family tradition, send me an email at Jules@GlobalArtisan.co. Some of my favorite ideas have always started with conversations, and I'd love to create designs inspired by the traditions that make your family unique.

Because at the end of the day, the winner isn't the person with the highest score.

The winner is the family that keeps making time to gather.

And if one of our boards gets to sit in the middle of those moments, then I know we've created something truly meaningful.
